Home: Current River Neighbourhood
This is the northernmost community in Thunder Bay, and lies on the north-east side of Boulevard Lake and the Current River. It is a quieter neighbourhood, on low lying land, with excellent access to the lake and recreational trails around it. The community is generally newer but has some older homes, mostly single family. There are some high-rise apartments in the community with excellent views of the lake and the Sleeping Giant.
Schools
The community has good elementary schools with both the public and Catholic school boards, with the Catholic high school just around the Boulevard Lake, though the public high school is a few kilometres to the south. The nearest library is a short drive away on Red River Road.
Shopping
While the community has some convenience stores, major shopping trips take residents to either County Fair Plaza or to Downtown North.
Recreation
The community is rich in recreational possibilities for all residents. Current River flows into beautiful Boulevard Lake in Centennial Park & Boulevard Lake Park, and there are several recreational pathways around the lake suitable for biking or jogging. The Current River Playfield and indoor ice arena is also in the middle of the community. The north end of the park offers The Bluffs Scenic Lookout, for great views of the city and the Lake. On the east edge of the neighbourhood is the Strathcona Golf Course,
