Home: East End Neighbourhood
This community lies between the railway tracks and the waterfront, sandwiched between the Kaministiquia River on the south and the Neebing-McIntyre Diversion to the north. This neighbourhood has traditionally been home to the poorer ethnic residents, notably Poles, Italians and Ukranians. Its isolation from the rest of the city by the railway tracks has given it a unique character and charm. The existence of the Magnus Theatre, with its live performances, has been for many locals the only reason to head this way.
Schools
The community has a Catholic school, though the public school is a short walk away. The local high schools are both a kilometre away, as is the public library.
Shopping
The community is also close to the shopping at Victoriaville Mall in Downtown South and the Intercity Shopping Centre, where all the "big box" stores are.
Recreation
There is an ice arena close-by at the Fort William Gardens in the heart of the community. For movies, residents head to either the Silver City cinemas or the Northland Cinemas in the Victoriaville Mall. Just north of the community is the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition grounds.
