Renting: Industrial Parks in Thunder Bay

Great Lakes freighters moor along Thunder Bay's busy waterfront Thunder Bay has several industrial Area. Form North to South:

Current River
Serviced by both CN and CP Rail this industrial area is home to both the Abitibi Mill and the city's Bare Point water treatment (intake) plant. The industrial area extends northwards from the Marina Park past Boulevard lake and the mouth of the Current River.

Harbour
This industrial park extends along the waterfront between the Marina Park southwards to the mouth of the Kaministiquia River. It is neatly adjacent to both the north and south downtowns. Harbour Industrial is serviced by both CN and CP Rail in the north, and CP Rail alone in the south. This area includes facilities for Northern Hardwood, Keefer, and the city's water pollution control plant

Intercity (Blamoral)
The Intercity industrial area, also known as Balmoral (with its Phases I through IV) is nestled between Fort William Road on the east and Balmoral Street (and the Lakehead University and Confederation College) in the west. It is well serviced by roads, and has rail service along its southeast boundary. This industrial area attracts mixed industries and commercial activities, and there are some small parcels available.

Innova - Prestige
This is a new industrial park, just being developed, and is sandwiched between Golf Links Road and the Thunder Bay Freeway. The Development Thunder Bay is targeting light industry or technology-based businesses for this park. It is very accessible to the Trans-Canada Highway and the airport, as well as the local post-secondary educational institutions.

McKellar Island
This is the northernmost island in the mouth of the Kaministiquia River, and lies north of the arm called the McKellar River. This island is well-serviced by CP Rail and is home to the massive Thunder Bay Terminal.

Mission Island
This is the southern-most island in the mouth of the Kaministiquia River, and Mission Island lies between the two arms called Mission River and McKellar River. Mission is serviced by CP rail and has an excellent road network on its northern side. This island is home to Petro-Canada's distribution as well as Ontario Hydro's coal-fired power plant.

First Nations
This industrial park is between City Road and the s called Mission River and the Kaministiquia River. The industrial park is on the northern edge of the Fort William Indian Reserve, and lies on land formerly used by CP Rail for rail yards. The land has excellent rail service and is very accessible to Highway 61 south, and relatively close to the airport and the Trans-Canada highway. Valley Camp and Abitibi Paper have large mills in this industrial area. This park is being promoted by several levels of government.

Walsh Street/Airport
The Walsh Street industrial area is adjacent to the airport and the Trans-Canada highway, making it a good location for logistics-type businesses.

Bowater-Bombardier
This industrial area is inland from Lake Superior, along the north bank of the Kaministiquia River. It is home to Great lakes Paper and Bombardier's Can-Car plant (which makes subway and light rail transit vehicles for New York, Seattle and Toronto). It has excellent rail service, proximity to the Trans-Canada Highway and the airport.
