Thunder Bay Local Information

Kakabeka Falls

Thunder Bay is located in the North- western part of Ontario on the shoreline of Lake Superior, protected from the lake's stormy seas by a chain of islands and the Sibley Penninsula (which form Thunder Bay in between). The community began as an early fur trading fort connecting with the interior of the continent.

Today, the city lies on the Trans-Canada Highway connecting Canada's prairies with Central Canada. The city is in Eastern standard time, the same as Toronto and New York, but one of the furthest west cities in North America in that time zone.

Thunder Bay Local Government

City Bus

Thunder Bay has a centralized civic government, after amalgamating the two maller cities of Fort William and Port Arthur in 1970.

It is also the Northern Ontario administrative centre for many Ontario provincial government departments. Thunder Bay residents take a strong and active role in all levels of government and its administration.

Here are all the email contacts for your elected politicians.
